Providing Women With a Role and Voice In Public Policy

The California Women’s State Appointment Project (CWSAP) is receiving great positive press from the media, especially from online blogs. The California political blog Fox & Hounds Daily recently featured an article about CWSAP and explained how essential it is to give women a voice and role in public policy. CWSAP encourages women statewide to apply for an appointment under the new gubernatorial administration in November. For more information about CWSAP and how to apply for an appointment, please visit www.cawomenlead.org/cwap.

California Women's State Appointment Project

It is our pleasure to invite you to participate in the California Women's State Appointment Project 2010. The mission of this nonpartisan project is to encourage and recruit women to apply for an appointment to boards, commissions, or in agencies with the new gubernatorial administration that will be elected in November. California Women Lead, the National Women's Political Caucus-California, Leadership California, the California Commission on the Status of Women, Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE), and Black Women Organized for Political Action are the coalition of organizations leading this effort to ensure we have a rich, diverse pool of women from all corners of the state.

The goal of this project is to bring to the new governor and transition team the names and resumes of women interested in serving in the new administration to bring a significant pool of qualified women to serve as appointees. The Coalition will be presenting the new Governor and their transition team members with binders of applications from women from throughout the state who are interested in serving in the new administration. We are recruiting women from all background and for all level of positions – high level, paid and volunteer. Many of these boards and commissions need women to serve in public positions, so don't think you need to be an expert in a specific area to apply! There are many women out there who are serving on boards and commissions and learning as they go!

We know there are many amazing women throughout California. As the state faces so many challenges we need to engage women from across the state and encourage them to serve. The Coalition's goal is to not only increase the number of women in appointed office, but ensure that boards and commissions reflect the rich diversity of California.

We hope you will consider filling out the application located on this website so we can include you in the project. We have included information to try and answer any questions you may have about the process and all of us are here to help.

Thank you for considering being a part of this exciting project. We look forward to working with you to increase the number of women in appointed office in California. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call any of the women listed below.
