We send our thanks and appreciation to Emily Westphal, Executive Director of Girls Inc. of the Northern Sacramento Valley, who shared with us the history of Girls Inc. and the development of research-based programs that address the changing needs of girls. We learned about the work of First Lady Michelle Obama on behalf of Girls Inc. at the national level. Emily also shared with us the implementation of the Women's Fund grant funded financial literacy program for local girls and their families.

We provide opportunities for women to network, offer localized training events, and enable members to develop leadership skills.
We hold monthly Brown Bag lunches from 12-1 at the Redding Library to provide an opportunity to learn about our community through networking and meeting women leaders. Our Brown Bag events are free, non-members are welcome, RSVP requested but not required. Our guests include elected and appointed women, and business and non-profit women leaders.
We provide appointment trainings which include learning about board and commission openings in our community and information about the application process.
California Women Lead membership is not limited to women who are elected
or appointed to office.
For more information about our chapter, call the office in Sacramento
at (916) 551-1920 or contact Kristen Schreder at kschreder@gmail.com
Please refer to our list of upcoming events to join us.
We had a great turnout and a lot of fun at our Speed Networking Event. Our 25 guests sampled great food and enjoyed many networking opportunities to learn about women in our community. Thank you to Chapter Board Members Michele Goedert and Emily Westphal for a great idea and outstanding preparation. |

of Education President Linda McBride; Shasta Union High School District

Leslie was elected Assessor-Recorder November 2006 and took office January 2007. Leslie's experience in the office began 14 years ago when she was first hired as an Auditor Appraiser. During lunch, she shared the technical aspects of her departments and the complexities through the economic downturn we are experiencing. She is committed to accurate valuations as this is the starting point for property taxes which then flow through Connie Regnell, Shasta County Auditor-Controller and then to Lori J. Scott, Shasta County Treasurer-Tax Collector-Public Administrator. The Recorder's office is responsible for examination, recording, and archiving of documents. The Assessor's office is responsible for discovering, classifying, and appraising all locally assessable property according to constitutional, statutory, and administrative requirements.
Leslie is a member of Soroptimist International of Redding, the Board of Directors for the CountyRecorders' Association of California, the Timber Advisory Committee for the State Board of Equalization and is active in the California Assessors' Association.
