A Message from the Chapter President

Greetings, I am currently serving as President of the San Mateo County Chapter of California Women Lead. I extend an open and welcoming invitation for you to join us.

It is an important time for women in San Mateo County and around California to become involved. There are many opportunities to address issues in our communities and work toward solutions.

If you hold elected office, have been appointed to a government position, want to be elected or appointed, or just support women in government, come join us. We provide an informative and friendly forum of trainings, from navigating the appointment process to working on campaigns to balancing a life of public service.

We encourage young women to participate in the political life of their communities and schools. We are currently developing a mentoring program for women entering the appointed or elected arena.

California Women Lead membership is not limited to women who are elected or appointed to office. We encourage all to become active members of the San Mateo County Chapter.

Some upcoming events include the following:

Coastside Appointments Training – September 2011
Meet & Mingle – October 2011
Member Luncheon – November 2011
Board of Directors Installation – December 2011
Issue Forum – January 2012
Campaign 101 – February 2012

Dildar Gill Pisani, President

San Mateo Chapter

Within first two years of establishing the San Mateo County Chapter of California Women Lead, eleven events have been held with nearly 400 people attending. Women are not only more knowledgeable about applying for appointments, campaigning and networking but also had the opportunity to network with women leaders, women commissioners and elected women officials at all events. Surveys received from participants at each event indicate that overall 95% of the women rated the trainings as excellent. 80% of the survey respondents indicated they are very likely or likely to seek appointments to boards or commissions or become politically involved by seeking office or working on a campaign.
