Girl Scouts is the premier leadership organization for girls focused on building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.

A Day at the Capitol event is designed to bring together girls in grades six, seven and eight from around the state to learn and experience strategies for bringing people together to find common ground.

Girls will be inspired and learn from a variety of female leaders and public servants and will gain a deeper understanding of why their voice matters. They will also learn how a bill becomes a law, tools for civil debate and the importance of sisterhood in leadership.

Girls will gather in Sacramento for an evening kick-off and orientation and will be treated to a guest speaker and special interactive activity. Throughout the two days girls will be engaged in additional speakers and programs and will provide an opportunity for them to meet their local representatives, tour the Capitol and visit the California Museum.

By the end of their time in Sacramento, they will have earned the Cadette Girl Scout badge, Finding Common Ground.

California Women Lead is a partner of the event. Visit https://www.girlscoutshcc.org/dayatthecapitol
