9:45 am GETTING IT DONE – WOMEN LEADING IN BUSINESS, COMMUNITY AND LIFE
Are leaders born or made? Leadership sometimes has nothing to do with positional authority and everything with how well leaders influence outcomes and inspire others. This panel will explore action-oriented practices and share personal stories that allow you to develop new leadership tools to help lead and impact change even if you are not “in charge.” Dive into the conversation on core behaviors of influential leadership: credibility, authenticity, emotional resolve and confidence. Leave the session knowing how to use your voice and project power, even when you are not the designated leader in the room!

11:00 am ALL POLITICS IS LOCAL
Sometimes you can have the most impact in your own local community, but do you know how it works? How can you include (or become part of) the policy making process? What impact can you have? How does the local advocacy differ at the local, state and federal level? Join us as we look at different aspects of the advocacy process and share experiences with women who live advocacy every day. Learn practical skills you can use to make change and impact policy in your local community and in California.
12:00 pm LUNCH (buffet)
12:30 pm DIVERSITY, INCLUSION AND THE FUTURE FOR WOMEN IN STEM
Diversity refers to the variety of differences between people in a community, organization or company. Embracing diversity means understanding and recognizing each of us is unique and that our differences are our greatest strength; while inclusion is about creating an environment where everyone feels welcome, valued and respected. Much is written and talked about around the concept of “diversity and inclusion”, but what does it really mean and what does it mean for the future, especially as organizations, political parties, communities look towards talent acquisition. As we look to inspire the next generation of women leaders, how does diversity and inclusion fit in the discussion, especially as so much emphasis turns to STEM.
