California Women Lead is pleased to announce Assemblywoman Catharine Baker and Elizabeth Ashford are part of a growing list of women leaders joining CA Women Lead Board of Directors in January 2019. Asm. Baker has represented California’s 16th Assembly District since 2014. Before joining the Assembly, she worked as an attorney, advising small businesses, individuals, and non-profits. Ashford served as Attorney General Kamala Harris’ Chief of Staff, Governor Jerry Brown’s Chief Deputy Press Secretary, and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Chief Deputy for Cabinet and Communications.
Both women bring valuable experience and passion to CA Women Lead's mission to establish parity in local and state government.
California Women Lead is the only statewide non-partisan organization in California dedicated to increasing the number of women serving in elected and appointed positions through facilitating appointments workshops, LEADership Academies and conferences to “Engage, Appoint, and Elect” women into leadership roles. Each year California Women Lead commissions statewide reports providing the status of women serving in elected office including city councils, county boards of supervisors, statewide and congressional offices in a continued effort to work towards achieving gender parity in government. The next report is scheduled to be released just after the November 2018 general election.
