CALIFORNIA WOMEN LEAD 2019 “MOVER” AWARDS NOMINATION
In 1974, a new organization called CEWAER; now California Women Lead, was created and was the first of its kind nationwide. The need for a new organization had seemed apparent for a long time, partly because of the general dissatisfaction with the male power structure, the disproportionate number of elected women and the sense of aloneness felt by women who were elected and then must function in an isolated situation. Many women felt that elected women were more than role models, that they could use their influence and clout to help the aspirations of all women. And women recognized that they needed supporters, buddies and a communication network - in other words, the counterpart to the "old boys club".
California Women Lead is successful today because of the remarkable women (and men) who have left their mark on the organization, leaders who not only believe in our mission, but live it. Our MOVER awards recognize leaders who have and continue to be trailblazers, leaders who not only inspire, but work to help women be successful.
The California Women Lead Board of Directors is accepting nominations for our 2019 “Making our Vision of Equality a Reality” (MOVER) Awards. The MOVER Awards will be presented February 6, 2019 at the California Women Lead Annual Legislative Reception at the Citizen Hotel in downtown Sacramento. The Board will be considering nominations and will announce honorees the first week of January. We ask that anyone who is nominated commits to attending the reception on February 6, 2019 in Sacramento.
Below is a brief description of each award. Please nominate anyone you feel is deserving of one of these awards. All nominees must be a current member of California Women Lead.
Nomination deadline -- November 30, 2018.
Selection procedure: recipients will be selected by the California Women Lead Board of Directors. Finalists may be contacted for more information. The board reserves the right to change categories of nominees.
